Today's meeting had a couple of nice visitors, a lady named Nina from Indiana and a young gentleman who tried out a uke for the first time. They didn't get to stay long but were a welcome addition. Our snow-birds Tom and Jaque are back and Tom brought his tenor guitar with 4 strings, tuned like a baritone Uke. As usual, the meeting was fast-paced, fun and we got to hang out with some great friends!
This evening's meeting was a treat! We've practiced most of the songs several times and have gotten pretty good. We have a new member, Ty, who may bring another player next time. We win! Thanks, y'all.
This meeting Glynis Crawford Smith of the Highlander newspaper came out to photograph and interview us at the Marble Falls Library. This photo and the article were posted on the front page, above the fold, on Dec. 27th! We had a great meeting and wonderful exposure in the community.
As sometimes happens, this meeting we were SMALL BUT MIGHTY. What we lack in numbers we gain in enthusiasm. We've added a couple more songs to our songlist and hopefully in the upcoming holiday season, we'll have time to practice at home. Really, it could happen!

We met at Fuel Coffeehouse this time, as the Llano Library had plans for their meeting room today. We started at the top of our Songbook and worked down quite a long way this time. Of course there's always time for laughing, joking and stuff. Just kidding, this is serious business (yeah, right). Always a pleasure, thanks for the great turnout, Strummers!

This evening's meeting was rather an adventure, but once again geekiness was triumphant! The projector died, but fortunately the library had an older large-screen TV that 'the man with all the wires' had an appropriate cable for. With a little extra work scrolling, we got through a lot of the songbook!

We have a new Ukulele Club computer. Don got in on the Kickstarter for a cute little computer that cost $9. You can still get it for $9, but you'll probably spend a little more for some necessary accessories. He got the case (in Store) and the VGA adapter. Then he couldn't get the darn thing to work so he consulted our nerdy friend Stevie. Turns out he should've gotten the USB wall charger because you need a charger that produces at least 2 amps. All the USB chargers we have around the house were only good for about an amp. When we discovered that, he went and bought a 4 amp powered USB hub.
Don was able to hook it up to the nice large multimedia screen at the Library and it worked beautifully. We haven't tested it with our projector yet, but we will before the next meeting at Marble Falls Library.
We had a lovely meeting this evening, welcoming new member Steve. We worked on a new song, Island Way by John Cruz, and did quite well considering it was our first time. Got some ideas for new songs and I'll be working them up in the next couple of weeks.
Here you can see us with our sexy new setup, so easy to use haul and use! Thanks to Don for all the technical stuff that makes it all so fun!

We were invited to play for the Luau at Gateway Villas Assisted Living in Marble Falls. Our turnout was excellent and we played our Luau Songbook for 15 minutes each in their two facilities. The staff was warm and inviting and we had a blast playing for the residents, most of whom knew all the lyrics and sang along. All in all, a colorful and handsome group, wouldn't you say?
